Originally conceived as a theoretical piece on Korean-American documentary filmmakers and cross-cultural identity in America,《A true story about love》ends up a personal and probing film about love, sexuality and the complex ethics of documentary filmmaking. The film tells the “true” story of Melissa Lee, a Korean-born Australian who goes to San Francisco to interview Korean-American filmmakers for her film school project. Early in her travels, she meets and has a fling with Richard’s friend, Marc, a Japanese-American, former actor, whom Melissa eventually falls in love with, and Melissa faces the notions of “truth” and ethics in documentary filmmaking. |
